A court in Drohobych has found a 36-year-old local resident guilty of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm that led to the victim’s death (Part 2, Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The man has been sentenced to 8 years and 3 months in prison.
Case Details
Prosecutors proved in court that in August of this year, in a gardening cooperative in Drohobych, the accused and his 63-year-old partner had a verbal altercation. During the conflict, the man struck the woman in the face, causing her to fall. He then inflicted numerous blows with his hands and feet to her head, torso, face, and limbs.
The injuries resulted in the woman’s death at the scene.
Court Ruling
Until the verdict becomes final, the accused will remain in custody.
The pretrial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department under the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region. The verdict will take effect after the appeal period expires.
