For the specified “reward”, the woman promised to remove the seizure from the debtor’s property for the payment of alimony. For what she committed, she faces up to ten years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The perpetrator was exposed by the investigators of the General Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Oblast Police together with operatives of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, the state executor of one of the departments of the state executive service in the city of Lviv, a 48-year-old local resident, demanded an illegal benefit from the debtor, whose accounts were blocked for non-payment of alimony, for assisting in the illegal lifting of the seizure from the property.
The official estimated her services at USD 1,300.
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving an illegal benefit.
The investigators informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The issue of removing the suspect from her position is being resolved.
