5,000 USD for a “white ticket” to cross the border – Lviv resident is served a notice of suspicion
Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 30-year-old Lviv resident was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with facilitating the illegal transfer of a person across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in June this year, the suspect assisted in smuggling a conscript across the state border with fake documents.
To do this, he created a Telegram channel where he found a “client” for such a service. During a telephone conversation, the man assured him that he would ensure the production of documents that would give him the right to cross the border without hindrance.
The officer only demanded that the person liable for military service provide certain documents confirming his identity.
He valued his services at USD 5,000.
Later, the suspect informed the “client” that the package of documents on exclusion from military registration was ready. For the sake of secrecy, he engaged his “courier”, who was to transfer and receive the agreed amount of money. The offender himself was watching them from the car.
After paying for the “service”, the suspect was detained by law enforcement officers.
At the request of the prosecutor, he was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the right to be released on bail.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, with the operational support of the SID in Lviv region of the National Police and the 7th Border Guard Detachment of the Carpathian Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Note: Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
