Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment against a 31-year-old Lviv resident on the fact of illegal transfer of a person across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in June this year, the accused facilitated the illegal transfer of a person liable for military service with fake documents across the state border.
To do this, he created a channel on Telegram, where he found a “client” for such a service. During a telephone conversation, the man assured the “client” that he would ensure the production of documents that would give him the right to cross the border without hindrance due to his unfitness for military service.
The person liable for military service, in turn, had to provide only certain documents confirming his identity.
The defendant estimated his services at USD 5,000.
Subsequently, the defendant informed the “client” that the package of documents on exclusion from military registration was ready. For the sake of conspiracy, he engaged his “courier”, who was to transfer and receive an agreed amount of money for this. The suspect himself watched them from the car.
After paying for the “service”, law enforcement officers detained the suspect.
In order to ensure the confiscation of property, the accused’s apartment was seized.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, with the operational support of the SID in Lviv region of the National Police and the 7th Border Guard Carpathian Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Note: In accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
