Farewell to Renowned Sculptor Yaroslav Motyka in Lviv

On March 5, Lviv will honor the memory of renowned Ukrainian sculptor Yaroslav Motyka, who passed away on March 1. The farewell ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist on Pekarska Street, 52. The artist will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery, with the burial ceremony starting at 1:20 PM.

Yaroslav Mykolayovych passed away at the age of 82. Among his most famous works is the sculpture of the Ruthenian “Lileya,” which adorns the swan lake in Stryiskyi Park. In the last months of his life, the artist worked on the monumental composition “The Abduction of Europa,” which he created together with colleagues Volodymyr Semkiv and Denys Shymansky with the participation of war veterans as part of the UNBROKEN Art program.
