In Lviv, the police detained a criminal on suspicion of falsely reporting a mine attack

The detainee, a 51-year-old woman from Lviv, faces up to eight years in prison for her crime.

The notification about the demining of one of the Lviv shopping and entertainment centers was received by the operational line 102 today, October 6, around ten o’clock in the morning. Explosives experts, dog handlers and employees of other units of the Lviv Oblast police, as well as patrol police officers, worked at the scene. 1,800 visitors and 600 employees of the facility were evacuated. The law enforcement officers did not find explosive objects.

As a result of the measures taken, operatives of the criminal police of police department No. 1 of the Lviv district police department No. 1 established that a 51-year-old woman from Lviv had given a false report about a mine attack and detained her in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial unit of the police opened criminal proceedings under part 2 of article 259 (Knownly false report about the threat to the safety of citizens, destruction or damage of property) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of four to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the court will soon choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
