Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office, a 35-year-old man was found guilty of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm that caused the victim’s death (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
The man will be kept in custody until the sentence enters into force. Prosecutors proved in court that in October 2023, in one of the villages of Chervonohrad district, a local resident beat his 32-year-old wife to death.
Late in the evening, the man returned home drunk. During another conflict with the woman, he began to hit the victim in the head with his fists, causing her to fall to the floor. After that, ignoring all her requests to stop the beating, the accused continued to kick and punch his wife’s body.
After the beating, the man went to bed.
The next day, the woman came to visit her sister, who called an ambulance. The victim was taken to the hospital, where she died.
The court’s verdict will come into force after the expiration of the appeal period.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Chervonohrad District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
