In Lviv, police charged a 70-year-old man who arranged a sham marriage between his daughter and a conscript, enabling the latter to avoid mobilization during martial law.
According to investigators, the suspect’s daughter has a Group II disability and was especially vulnerable due to illness and financial hardship. In 2023, motivated by profit, her father coerced her into agreeing to the fake marriage.

The scheme was uncovered by officers of the Migration Police Department of Lviv Region in cooperation with investigators from Police Department No.1 of Lviv District Police Department No.2.

The case is being prosecuted under the supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office.
The man has been charged under Part 1 of Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (human trafficking), which carries a penalty of three to eight years in prison.
A pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
