A 75-year-old resident of Novyi Rozdil and her grandson organised the sale of psychotropic drugs

Family drug business – law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion of selling psychotropic drugs to a grandmother and her grandson in Lviv region

Criminal police operatives and investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Stryi District Police Department found that a 75-year-old resident of Novyi Rozdil and her 29-year-old grandson were selling the psychotropic substance PVP to drug addicts through hand-to-hand transactions at their place of residence.

Law enforcement officers documented several facts of distribution of prohibited substances by the criminals, and during an authorised search, they examined and seized: a substance similar to the psychotropic drug “PVP”, packaging equipment, electronic scales, as well as other material evidence. All the seized items were sent for expert examination to the Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Lviv region.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, served the offenders a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty under the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court imposed on the suspects a house arrest and on the grandson a custodial sentence.
