A lawyer has been detained for attempting to influence a court decision regarding guardianship.
In August of last year in Drohobych, a man consulted a lawyer about having his grandmother declared legally incompetent and establishing guardianship. “The defender provided a list of documents necessary for court submission,” noted the investigation. The man gathered the materials but was concerned about possible competition from other relatives.
The lawyer suggested “resolving the issue” for $3000, promising to influence the judge. The client agreed but reported to law enforcement. The lawyer was detained after receiving the amount.
The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicion of abuse of influence. The suspect has been remanded in custody with the right to bail.
