Pedestrian killed by Mitsubishi near Lviv – police establish circumstances
The road accident occurred on 4 July at about 22.15 on the Kyiv-Chop motorway near the village of Gamaliyivka, Lviv district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Mitsubishi Outlander, a 50-year-old resident of Chervonohrad district, hit a pedestrian, a 78-year-old resident of Kirovohrad region. As a result of the collision, the man sustained injuries and died at the scene.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Regional Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
