Police in Lviv region establish circumstances of road accident and identity of deceased pedestrian
The road accident occurred on April 29 at 5:20 a.m. on the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Sosnivka, Lviv district.
As law enforcement officers have previously established, the driver of a Scania truck, a 42-year-old resident of Vinnytsia region, hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road in the wrong place. As a result of the accident, the man died at the scene.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Regional Police opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are identifying the deceased man.
