House on Yuriy Lypy in Lviv Safe After Explosion

After the explosion in one of the flats on Yuriy Lypy Street, 39 in Lviv, experts have confirmed the safety of residing in the building. The explosion only damaged a gypsum wall and the windows on the balcony of the neighbouring flat. According to specialists, the main structures of the building have not lost their integrity, so the residents do not need to be relocated.

Relatives of the deceased, who had stored a grenade in the flat, have agreed to repair the damage themselves. An elderly woman in the neighbouring flat was injured and is currently in hospital due to a leg injury. The district administration assisted in organising the cleaning and restoration of the flats.

Preliminarily, law enforcement suspects an ‘accidental incident’ due to illegal handling of weapons. Following the explosion, another grenade was discovered in the flat of the deceased 35-year-old man from the area.
