In the Lviv region, a man secretly tried to import 9 million hryvnias into Ukraine

At the Sheghini-Medyka checkpoint, a man tried to smuggle 9 million hryvnias from abroad under the upholstery of a car. This was reported in the press service of the Lviv Customs.

So, on February 1, around 8:10 p.m., a Mercedes Benz Citan car arrived from Poland at the Sheghini-Medyka checkpoint.

The driver of the minibus, a 38-year-old resident of Lviv region, who was returning home from a private trip, chose the “red corridor” lane to pass customs control and declared food products and multi-devices worth about 200 euros.

During the inspection of the car, employees of the “Mostyska” customs post, together with border guards, found hidden cash in the structural cavities of the car, in particular, under the paneling.

According to preliminary data, the man tried to transport about 9 million hryvnias to Ukraine in 100 hryvnia bills.

Based on this fact, the customs officers drew up an administrative report under Art. 483 (Movement or actions aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine with concealment from customs control) of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for the imposition of a fine in the amount of 100% of the value of the goods – the direct objects of violation of customs rules with confiscation of goods and vehicles.
