
A tragic incident related to jealousy occurred in the city of Sheptytsky.
According to the investigation, on December 26, a conflict arose between the 37-year-old suspect and his 38-year-old acquaintance in an apartment of a residential building. During the quarrel, the man, being under the influence of alcohol, stabbed the woman twice in the chest with an awl. Despite the injuries, the victim managed to exit the apartment to the street, where passersby called for emergency medical assistance. Due to acute blood loss, the woman died in the hospital the next day.
The attacker was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and is currently being held in custody. Investigative actions are ongoing, and a number of examinations have been appointed. Under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office, the man has been informed of the suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm resulting in the victim’s death (Part 2, Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Sheptytsky District Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv region. According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of a crime until found guilty by a court verdict.
