Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office, a local resident was served a notice of suspicion of illegal mining of local mineral resources (Part 1 Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect organized illegal mining on agricultural land in Yavoriv district.
One of the land plots belonged to the suspect, the other to his wife.
The man, without any permits, used special equipment to extract sand there in June-November 2023, which he later sold to “customers”.
The investigation is ongoing.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, operational support is provided by the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region of the State Department of Investigations of the National Police in cooperation with the State Environmental Inspectorate in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
