Four e-scooter and e-bike riders caught over the limit

Over a 24-hour period, inspectors detected four riders of electric vehicles who were operating them while under the influence. Three of them were on e-scooters, and one was on an e-bike while under the influence of drugs. In each case, administrative offence reports were drawn up and will be considered by the court.

Law enforcement officers remind the public that e-scooters and e-bikes are vehicles, and therefore it is prohibited to ride them while intoxicated. Liability for such offences is set out in Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (КУпАП).

The sanctions under Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (КУпАП) provide for:

  • for part 1 – a fine of 17,000 UAH with disqualification from driving for 1 year;
  • for part 2 – a fine of 34,000 UAH with disqualification from driving for 3 years with seizure of the vehicle upon payment, or administrative arrest for 10 days;
  • for part 3 – a fine of 51,000 UAH with disqualification from driving for 10 years and confiscation of the vehicle, or administrative arrest for 15 days with the same consequences;
  • for part 4 – a fine of 34,000 UAH or administrative arrest for 15 days with disqualification from driving for 3 years.

Law enforcement officers urge drivers not to get behind the wheel of any vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
