Lviv State Registrar Suspected of Illegal Registration

An unusual case occurred in Lviv, where a state registrar is suspected of illegal registration of a land plot in the city centre. Preliminary reports suggest that in 2020 an official from the Lviv branch of the StateGeoCadastre entered data for the registration of a 0.66 ha plot without authorisation.

According to the investigation materials, the documents submitted by the applicant, which should have included approval from the local government body, were not provided. Despite this, the state registrar registered the plot, thereby violating legal requirements.

With procedural guidance from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, she has been notified of suspicion regarding unauthorised modification of information in the land cadastre, carried out with access to the automated system (Part 1, Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with support from the Security Service of Ukraine.

It is worth remembering that, according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty.
