According to the public indictment of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, four citizens of Ukraine were found guilty of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and the activities of armed groups not provided for by law (parts 1, 2 of article 111, part 1 of article 258-3, part 2 of article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The court sentenced each of them to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Prosecutors proved in court that in 2022, residents of the Donetsk region voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy and joined the ranks of the illegal formation of the People’s Militia, the so-called DNR.
The men underwent military training in the armed units of the Russian Federation and performed the duties of gunners and drivers.
During military service, the defendants were on duty at combat positions in areas of conflict with the Armed Forces. They also ensured the security of the places of stay of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and delivered food to them.
During May – July 2023, military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces captured them in the territory of Donetsk region.
The accused are currently being held in a Ukrainian penitentiary.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.
