Lviv region: Police detain attacker suspected of inflicting fatal injuries to his partner
The suspect, a 36-year-old resident of Drohobych, who has been previously prosecuted, faces imprisonment for up to ten years for his crime.
As established by the criminal police operatives together with investigators and employees of other services of the Drohobych District Police Department, the incident occurred on August 11 at about 22.00 in one of the country houses near the district center, which belonged to the deceased.
A conflict arose between the suspect and his 63-year-old female partner, during which the man struck the woman numerous times on the head and other parts of her body. The woman died from her injuries and shock.
Law enforcement officers detained the offender in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, served him a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
