
A road traffic accident occurred in the Lviv region, resulting in 32 people being injured.
The accident happened on July 9 around 20:10 on the ‘Lviv-Shegyni’ highway near the village of Rodatychi in the Lviv district. According to law enforcement, the driver of the VDL bus, running on the ‘Chernihiv-Prague’ route, drove into the oncoming lane while overtaking. This led to a collision with an Audi A4 driven by a 33-year-old resident of the Lviv district. As a result of the crash, the bus went into a ditch and overturned. There were 65 passengers on board.
Medical assistance was sought by 51 individuals, including 49 passengers, the second bus driver, and the car driver. Among them, 30 passengers, the car driver, and the second bus driver sustained bodily injuries and were taken to medical facilities. Among the injured are an eight-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl from the Kyiv region. No injuries were detected in 19 people.
Investigators from the transport crime investigation department of the Lviv police have opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty under this article includes imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such. Law enforcement is establishing all the circumstances of the event.
