Traffic Accident in Lviv Region: Injured E-Scooter Rider and Cyclist

Two traffic accidents occurred in the Lviv region, resulting in injuries to an e-scooter rider and a cyclist.

Lviv police urge drivers to follow the Traffic Rules, not to exceed speed limits, and to pay attention to the road. Riders of two-wheeled transport are asked to be vigilant on the road and to wear reflective elements at night.

On June 6, around 18:46, in the city of Sokal, a Volkswagen Passat driver, a 35-year-old resident of the Sheptytsky district, hit an e-scooter rider, a 19-year-old local resident. As a result of the accident, the young man sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Another traffic accident occurred around 18:10 on the ‘Lviv – Krakivets’ highway in the village of Kohuty, Yavoriv district. The driver of a Toyota RAV4, a 42-year-old resident of the city of Yavoriv, hit a cyclist, a 70-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk. The man suffered injuries and was hospitalized.

Investigators from the territorial police departments have initiated criminal proceedings under part 1 of article 286 ‘Violation of traffic safety rules’ of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article is up to three years of restriction of liberty with revocation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years. Law enforcement officers are establishing all circumstances of the incidents.
