A tragic road accident occurred on December 22 at 6:55 PM on the Lviv–Sambir–Uzhhorod highway in the city of Sambir, Lviv region.
According to preliminary police findings, a Mercedes car driven by a 31-year-old resident of Sambir collided with a BAZ “Etalon” bus operated by a 59-year-old resident of a nearby village.
As a result of the collision, the Mercedes driver sustained severe injuries and died in the hospital. His 35-year-old passenger and a 65-year-old bus passenger suffered injuries and were hospitalized.
The investigative department specializing in transportation crimes of the Lviv Region Police has initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This provision allows for imprisonment from three to eight years and may include a driving ban of up to three years or no ban at all.
Law enforcement officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
