The road accident occurred on 17 October, around 19.45, on Tunnelna Street in Lviv.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Volkswagen Golf, a 23-year-old resident of a village in Sambir district, hit two pedestrians, Lviv residents aged 13 and 15.
As a result of the accident, the girls were injured and taken to medical facilities.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
