Two Women Injured in Road Accident in Lviv Region

Two women were injured yesterday in a road accident in the Lviv region, the police are investigating the circumstances.

The first road accident occurred on December 6 at around 17:20 in one of the villages of the Sheptytskyi district. According to preliminary information from law enforcement, a 63-year-old resident of Sokali City, driving a Toyota Corolla, hit a 48-year-old local woman. As a result of the accident, the woman sustained bodily injuries and was taken to the hospital.

On the same day, around 17:40 on Hrushevsky Street in Drohobych City, a 26-year-old local resident, driving a Chevrolet Bolt, hit a 73-year-old woman from the district center who was crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing. As in the previous case, the woman sustained bodily injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Investigators from the police territorial units have opened criminal cases under Part 1 of Article 286 (“Violation of Road Traffic Safety Rules”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty under the article’s sanction is up to three years of restricted freedom, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.

Law enforcement is investigating the circumstances of the incidents.
