Conviction for the Murder of a Village Head and Robberies in the Lviv Region

Prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved the guilt of two residents of the Lviv district in murder and robberies.

In 2020, in the Pustomyty district, the accused, along with an accomplice who is currently being sought, committed a robbery on a former village council head and his wife. They broke into the residence at night, tied up the victims, and beat the village head, leading to his death. After seizing money and valuables worth over 700,000 UAH, they fled the scene.

Between 2017 and 2020, the accused implemented similar robbery schemes in the Rivne, Ternopil, and Lviv regions. They poisoned a dog to penetrate household premises and had a gun, bats, a gas cylinder, and duct tape. During one of the attacks, they stole a hunting weapon and cartridges.

The older criminal attacked a currency exchange worker, but she resisted, thwarting his plan. The 34-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment, and his 31-year-old accomplice to 9 years, 1 month, and 2 days of imprisonment.
