Two workers of one of the mines in the Lviv Region were building a dacha for their management during working hours

In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers exposed criminals who used the labor of their subordinates

This was reported by the Police of the Lviv region today.

Two employees of one of the mines of the State Enterprise “Lvivvugilya”, who are employed as underground electrical fitters, received wages for no reason without being at their workplaces. Instead, they built a dacha for their leadership. Now the managers of the enterprise face up to twelve years with confiscation of property.

The police established that from July 2023, the managers of the mine tasked their subordinates, electrical fitters, with the task of repairing country houses, as well as building a country house for the mine’s deputy director. At the same time, the officials of the enterprise, on the instructions of the managers, carried out timesheets and charged these workers wages as if they were performing their duties in the mine, working in a full shift.

The perpetrators were exposed by operatives of the Migration Police Department together with investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes of General Criminal Orientation of the Police Investigation Department of the Lviv Oblast, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted in the criminal proceedings opened under Part 2 of Art. 149 (Trafficking in persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and part 4 of Art. 191 (Empropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for a term of up to twelve years with confiscation of property.

As a reminder, from April 20 to 27, police officers of the Lviv Oblast, together with employees of the Western Interregional Department of the State Labor Service, are conducting a set of operational and preventive measures to combat criminal offenses related to human trafficking, as well as to identify and document violations of labor legislation.
