The director of a private enterprise is suspected of supplying substandard ballistic glasses to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
To meet the procurement requirements, the company provided a certificate from a German manufacturer. This allowed the signing of a contract for the supply of 100,000 units in April 2023.
The glasses were delivered and accepted by the ministry along with the corresponding documentation. However, customs discovered that only 2,000 original units were imported.
Examinations confirmed the product’s non-compliance with the ballistic fragment protection requirements. “Substandard quality poses a direct threat to the lives of our defenders,” experts state.
The director has been notified of suspicion for embezzlement of property amounting to UAH 154.8 million. He is abroad and has been declared wanted.
