
Illegal logging of trees worth almost 9 million UAH has been discovered in the Lviv region, among the suspects is the director of the subsidiary forestry enterprise ‘Halsillis’.
According to the investigation, the director organized illegal logging in the area of the forestry under his supervision. For this, he involved two forest masters and the acting forester. ‘The plan envisioned systematic hidden logging of trees that were not listed in the permit documents – logging tickets’, the investigators state.
The director developed the plan, assigned roles, coordinated the illegal logging and hiding the traces. The forester and one of the forest masters were responsible for marking, electronic accounting, and logistics of timber transportation. The other forest master ensured the felling and sawing of trees.
In total, almost 700 trees have been documented as illegally logged, 683 of which were pines. The environmental damage amounts to almost 9 million UAH. The enterprise director has been notified of suspicion in organizing illegal logging in the forest, transportation, storage, and sale, which caused severe consequences.
