In Lviv Region, Director to be Prosecuted for Environmental Damage

In the Lviv region, a company director will face trial for causing environmental damage amounting to over 650,000 hryvnias.

As law enforcement officials have determined, the accused instructed workers to illegally cut down more than 30 healthy trees. In October 2025, the director of the health-recreational complex of the State Enterprise ‘Lvivvuhillia’, without having a special permit (a logging ticket), organized works on the removal of deadwood and felling of trees on the complex’s territory, involving mine workers to perform these tasks.

During these works, more than 30 healthy trees of various species, belonging to the branch of the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’, were illegally felled. Thus, the surrounding natural environment was inflicted with damage amounting to almost 664,000 hryvnias in total.

The perpetrator was uncovered by operatives of the criminal police and investigators of police department No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi district police department, in collaboration with operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine’s Department in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi district prosecutor’s office.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding, opened under Part 4 of Article 246 (Illegal logging or illegal transportation, storage, sale of timber) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 2 of Article 367 (Official negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been completed. The indictment has been submitted for court review. The maximum penalty provided by the articles’ sanctions is imprisonment for up to seven years.
