In Lviv Oblast, the manager of a communal institution was informed of suspicion of embezzlement of almost 650 thousand hryvnias of budget funds
The perpetrator, the director of the Center for financial, economic and educational and methodological support of educational and cultural institutions of one of the village councils in the Stryi district, was exposed by the investigative police department No. 2 of the Stryi district police department together with operatives of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office
As the law enforcement officers established, in December 2022, the Center and the supplier entered into an agreement on the purchase of six backup power sources (electrical generators) to meet the needs of six local educational institutions – two kindergartens and four schools.
However, the prices specified in the contract for the purchased generators were inflated and did not correspond to market prices. In the future, funds from the local budget were transferred to the supplier and thus the community suffered losses in the amount of almost 650 thousand hryvnias.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police informed the intruder about the suspicion of criminal offenses provided for in part 4 of article 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and part 2 of article 366 (Official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine . The maximum punishment provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for a term of up to eight years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
