Former Commander from Lviv Region Suspected of Million-Dollar Losses

In the Lviv region, a former military unit commander is accused of causing the state millions in damages through the procurement of army beds.

Under the management of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the defense sector of the Western region, a former military unit commander, currently serving as the deputy head of the district military administration, has been charged. He is accused of organizing the procurement of army beds at inflated prices.

The investigation established that in May 2022, the commander signed a contract for the supply of one thousand army beds at a cost of 6.5 million UAH. **The price for each set was inflated by nearly 30% above the market value**, leading to the state losing over 2.6 million UAH.

The actions of the accused are classified as “negligent service” with severe consequences during the martial law period in accordance with Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
