Former Officials of Drohobych RDA Suspected of Abuse of Office
Under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, two former officials of one of the Drohobych District Administration departments have been notified of suspicion.
Document Forgery and Illegal Payments
According to the investigation, the suspects, abusing their official positions, unjustifiably arranged social payments for citizens, among whom were their relatives and acquaintances, who were not entitled to them. To this end, the suspects forged official documents, specifically entering information about eleven citizens who had no grounds for receiving the corresponding financial assistance. Subsequently, these falsified documents were directed to the bank, and based on them, social payments were systematically made.
It has been documented that in this manner, from January to November 2020, almost 2 million UAH were unjustifiably paid from the state budget.
Searches and Seizures
During the searches conducted at the suspects’ places of residence, cash totaling over 20,000 USD and personal files of citizens were seized. The women have been notified of suspicion regarding embezzlement of other people’s property through abuse of office, official forgery, forgery of documents, and use of obviously forged documents (Parts 3, 4 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 366, Part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Decisions are being made regarding the selection of preventive measures for the suspects in the form of detention and the imposition of asset seizures. Investigative actions are ongoing. Possible involvement of the suspects in the embezzlement of budget funds amounting to almost 8 million UAH is also being verified, with several expert examinations appointed. Currently, the women have been dismissed from their positions.
The pre-trial investigation and operational support are being conducted by the Drohobych District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven under law and established by a conviction of a court.
