Under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, four doctors were exposed and served suspicion notices.
They are charged with facilitating the illegal transfer of persons across the state border and issuing a knowingly false official document (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the doctors, being the head and 3 members of one of the inter-district medical examination centres in Lviv, facilitated the illegal transfer of persons across the state border.
The suspects forged medical documentation, on the basis of which men of military age were unreasonably granted the status of disabled.
After that, on the basis of fictitious disability, the men freely crossed the state border.
It has been documented that at least 5 people illegally left Ukraine in this way and did not return.
According to preliminary information, the price of such a “service” was from USD 1,300.
During the searches of the offenders’ places of work and residence, the SBU seized over 4,000 medical documents, accounting journals, cash and other material evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, based on the materials of the SBU Office in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
