Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, two officials of critical infrastructure enterprises in the Lviv region were detained and reported on suspicion of soliciting and receiving illegal benefits (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the chief mechanic and the chief engineer of the district water supply facilities of the Lviv Region established a scheme for the transfer of the company’s special equipment for a monetary reward without concluding the relevant contracts and making official payment.
Law enforcement officers detained both participants of the scheme in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, during the receipt of regular tranches of illegal benefits in the amount of UAH 27,000 and UAH 10,000.
Investigations are currently ongoing. The issue of removing him from his position is being resolved. The involvement of other persons is also established.
Pretrial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Lviv Region, based on the materials of the SBU Office in the Lviv Region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
