In Lviv region, a land surveyor engineer from Skole has been served with a notice of suspicion in connection with the unlawful acquisition of three plots of municipally owned land worth over UAH 2 million. This was reported by law enforcement agencies.
According to the investigation, between August and October last year the suspect took an active part in implementing a scheme to seize land in the village of Maidan, Zhovkva community. This concerns three plots with a total area of 1.5 hectares in a buffer zone near Yavorivskyi National Nature Park, which have considerable investment and recreational potential and belong to Zhovkva City Council.
The investigation alleges that, in order to carry out the plan, knowingly forged State Acts granting private ownership of land for smallholding purposes were used. The land surveyor engineer, being aware that she was dealing with forged documents and that the land was municipally owned, prepared the necessary land management documentation.
She created and personally signed the land management materials and their electronic files, entering false information about the owners of the plots. As a result of these actions, three plots of land with a total area of 1.5 hectares and a value of over UAH 2 million were removed from community ownership.
Under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkva District Prosecutor’s Office, the land surveyor engineer has been served with a notice of suspicion of abuse of authority by a person providing public services, which caused serious consequences (Part 3 of Article 365-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Lviv region.
Law enforcement officers are identifying all those involved in the unlawful activities, in particular the origin of the forged acts and the role of the individuals for whom the land management documents were prepared. In accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
