In Lviv, abandoned cars continue to be removed from the streets. Since the beginning of September, a further 8 neglected vehicles have been taken to the police impound lot, bringing the total number of towed vehicles to 127 cars.
According to the Department of Security and Street Infrastructure of Lviv City Council, these cars had stood motionless for a long time, obstructing pedestrians and residents and breaching public amenity rules. The decision to remove them was taken by the commission for identifying and relocating abandoned vehicles within the Lviv community.
The problem vehicles were found at the following addresses in Lviv: vul. Sirka, 21; vul. Sykhivska, 4; vul. Kavkazka, 56; vul. Yavornytskoho, 1a; vul. Kerchenska, 13–15; vul. Volodymyra Velykoho, 37; vul. Enerhetychna, 18; vul. Terletskoho – Horodotska.
Before towing, notices were placed on the vehicles calling on owners to collect their cars themselves or put them in proper order. As this was not done, and in line with the decision of the commission – which includes representatives of the police, the Interior Ministry service centre, and officials and councillors of the city council – all 8 cars were taken to the impound lot on vul. Koniushynna, 13.
In total, since the launch of the programme to relocate abandoned vehicles within the Lviv community, 127 neglected vehicles have already been taken to the impound lot. At the same time, some car owners, having learnt of the possibility of forcible towing, removed their cars from the streets themselves or restored their roadworthiness.
