The perpetrator – the head of a private construction enterprise – was exposed by the operatives of the Strategic Investigations Office in the Lviv region together with the employees of the especially serious crimes investigation department (detectives) of the investigative department of the police of the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region.
As the law enforcement officers established, the perpetrator received a contract for major repairs of a building (barracks) belonging to one of the KEC. However, in the contract and in the accounting documents, he indicated the overestimated cost of the works, thus seizing budget funds in the amount of more than 570 thousand hryvnias.
The law enforcement officers informed the head of the enterprise about the suspicion of committing criminal offenses provided for in part 4 of article 191 (Appropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and part 2 of article 366 (Official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanctions of the articles is imprisonment for a term of up to eight years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
