Mine Director in Lviv Region to Face Trial for Over 27 Million UAH in Unpaid Wages

The Sheptytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against the acting director of a coal mining enterprise in the Lviv region, who is accused of intentionally failing to pay employees their wages. He is charged under Part 1 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Investigators found that despite having the financial resources and authority to settle wage arrears, the official deliberately redirected funds to other purposes unrelated to salary payments.

Instead of paying wages, the money was spent on:

  • purchasing fuel;
  • buying vehicle spare parts;
  • acquiring timber;
  • organizing cultural events.

Such actions violate Ukrainian labor law, which requires that employee salaries be paid as a priority.

Preliminary data shows that in 2025 alone, the wage debt exceeded 20 million UAH, with the total sum of arrears reaching over 27 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Sheptytskyi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.

📌 Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court verdict.
