Mine Manager to Be Tried for Wage Debts Exceeding 27 Million UAH

Prosecutors from the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office have sent an indictment to court against the acting director of a coal mining enterprise. He is accused of unjustified non-payment of wages (Part 1 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the official, having the financial means and authority to settle accounts with subordinates, deliberately directed funds for other needs. Specifically, funds intended for wage payments were spent on fuel, auto parts, lumber, and cultural events.

The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported: “This contradicts the legislative requirements regarding the priority of wage payments.” According to preliminary data, in 2025 alone, the wage debt to the mine workers reached over 20 million UAH, and in total exceeded 27 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the Sheptytsky District Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Lviv region. The Information Policy Department of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reminds: “According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.”
