Head of Zhytomyr TCC Detained for Bribery

In Zhytomyr region, the head of the regional TCC has been exposed for demanding an unlawful benefit in exchange for not conscripting employees. A local entrepreneur approached the official to learn about the legal procedure for reserving employees, but was offered a monthly “subscription fee” instead.

According to the investigation, the head of the regional TCC promised not to mobilise the entrepreneur’s employees and to provide them with “immunity” from TCC mobile group inspections. For this, he demanded a list of employees with personal data and phone numbers.

Law enforcement documented several instances of him receiving unlawful benefits. After another transfer of funds, he was caught red-handed. The official was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and has been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The crime was uncovered thanks to the joint efforts of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General and the SBU. The “subscription fee” has been cancelled, and the issue of selecting a preventive measure is under consideration.
