Former Lviv University Official Suspected

A former official of one of Lviv’s universities is suspected of official negligence causing damages of almost 10 million UAH.

Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the former acting head of a structural university subdivision has been notified of suspicion. He is charged with official negligence under part 2 of article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the investigation, the official, by improperly performing his duties, sold agricultural products to a farming enterprise at a price significantly below market value.

Specifically, the sale involved 770 tons of harvested soybeans. It has been established that the sale at a reduced price caused nearly 10 million UAH in damages to state interests.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine’s Directorate in the Lviv region. According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court’s conviction.
