Doctor Detained in Lviv Region for Bribery over Disability Certification

In the Lviv region, law enforcement detained a doctor for receiving an improper benefit. A psychiatrist demanded 2,000 dollars from a patient, promising to influence the expert committee’s decision on granting a disability status.

Despite the patient having all necessary grounds for obtaining disability, the doctor withheld document submission without a reward. The detention occurred in the doctor’s office after he received the money.

The suspect has been informed of a legal violation under Article 369-2, part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for imprisonment from three to eight years with property confiscation. Read more.
