A native of Lviv created a fictitious account on a social network and posted publications about the sale of clothes

The police informed about the suspicion of a Lviv man who defrauded people under the pretext of online sales

The attacker, misleading buyers, received money from them for non-existent goods. Law enforcement officers have documented at least four cases of fraud.

As the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 together with the employees of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Office in the Lviv Region established, a 30-year-old man from Lviv created a fictitious account on a social network in which he posted publications about the sale of clothes, shoes and accessories that he did not actually have.

The attacker misled buyers who sent him money for non-existent goods. In this way, the man illegally took possession of the funds of at least four victims.

Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 190 (Fraud committed by or through illegal operations using electronic computing equipment) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
