Prosecutors of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office in Lviv have sent an indictment to court against a 22-year-old resident of Lviv for theft and interference with information systems.
Investigations revealed that in September last year, the young man rented a room in the Sykhiv district of Lviv. When the 44-year-old owner fell asleep, the tenant used his phone. Taking advantage of the unlocked mobile and the autofill password function, he logged into the online banking system.
This allowed him to transfer over 28,000 UAH to his own account, which he spent for personal needs. Under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office in Lviv, the man was informed of the suspicion of theft and unauthorized interference with information systems.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by PD No. 2 of Lviv District Police Department, and operational support is provided by the Cybercrime Counteraction Department in Lviv Oblast.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until proven guilty in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
