Lviv Resident Receives 9 Years for Illegal Smuggling of Men Across the Border
The court has sentenced a resident of Lviv who organized the illegal smuggling of men across Ukraine’s state border. The perpetrator received a 9-year prison sentence for his actions.
Details of the Criminal Activities
During the investigation, it was established that the convict – previously tried for similar crimes – created a network for illegal smuggling of individuals to the EU through Lviv region. His activities included:
- Transporting individuals to controlled border areas;
- Temporary accommodation in villages near the border;
- Transporting to the state border line;
- Acting as a guide.
The last attempt proved fatal for the operator: four Ukrainian citizens were detained while attempting an illegal border crossing.
Court Verdict
The court found him guilty of illegal smuggling of individuals across the state border and sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment. The scammer’s activities were halted thanks to the effective work of the border guards from the operational-search unit of the 7th border Carpathian detachment.
