In Lviv, a 33-year-old local resident has been sentenced for organising a scheme to send drugs to prisons. He obtained methadone through substitution therapy programmes and disguised it in prunes, sending it by post to places of detention.
The man has been sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions for 3 years. During a search of his residence, cannabis was found, which he kept for personal use.
The previously convicted individual already had a criminal record for drug-related offences. He was charged with illegal possession, sending, and distribution of narcotics to places of detention, as well as drug fraud.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by Lviv District Police Department No. 2. The verdict will come into legal force after the expiration of the appeal period.
