Lviv Resident Sentenced for Real Estate Fraud

In Lviv, a 54-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his involvement in a real estate fraud scheme. He forged a passport and “sold” a house in the Solonka community that belonged to a deceased owner.

The court imposed a penalty with confiscation of all property. The fraudsters used a lost passport, replacing the photo with an image of the convicted man, to register ownership of the house. The forged documents served as the basis for issuing a power of attorney to an intermediary, who sold the house for over 860,000 UAH.

The deception was uncovered when the deceased owner’s heir noticed strangers on the property. The court found the man guilty of aiding fraud and document forgery. The case concerning the state registrar, who unlawfully registered the house, is under judicial review.
