Lviv resident to stand trial for possession of cannabis and attempt to bribe police officer

In Lviv, an indictment has been submitted to court against a 47-year-old local resident accused of unlawful acquisition and possession of cannabis with intent to supply, as well as offering an unlawful benefit to a police officer. This was reported by the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv.

According to the investigation, in July 2026 the man acquired cannabis for subsequent sale and stored it at his place of residence. At the end of July, law enforcement officers received information about the storage of the narcotic substance in his flat in Lviv.

During an urgent search, law enforcement officers discovered and seized zip-lock bags containing cannabis from the property. After this, attempting to avoid liability, the accused offered the police officer an unlawful benefit in the amount of 5,000 US dollars.

The Lviv resident is charged with unlawful acquisition and possession of narcotic substances with intent to supply, and with offering an official an unlawful benefit for failing to perform, in the interests of the person offering it, any actions using the authority or official position conferred on them. The acts have been classified under Part 1 of Article 307 and Part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by the Investigation Department of Police Station No. 2 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.

Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proved in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
