A 21-year-old resident of the Khodoriv community has been sentenced for an armed robbery against his 75-year-old neighbour. The court sentenced him to 8 years of imprisonment, as reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred late last October. The convicted individual went to his neighbour, struck him in the face, and then began to beat him with his hands and feet. He then dragged the victim into a room, demanding money. When the victim refused, the attacker hit him on the head with an electric kettle.
The perpetrator found 15,000 hryvnias in a hiding place and, threatening to kill, took them. The following morning, the victim reported to the police. That evening, law enforcement officers apprehended the attacker when he returned from Lviv, where he had spent part of the stolen money on a mobile phone.
The convicted individual has been charged with robbery and the legalisation of property obtained through criminal means. He will remain in custody until the verdict becomes legally binding. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Stryi District Police Department.
